Effective Acid Reflux & GERD Treatment - From the Comfort of Home
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the esophagus, leading to persistent heartburn, acid regurgitation, and other digestive symptoms. Patients typically experience a burning sensation in the chest, a sour or bitter taste, and sometimes difficulty swallowing.
If acid reflux progresses, it can cause chronic acid reflux, damage the esophageal lining, and increase the risk of Barrett's esophagus or esophageal cancer.
At Circle Medical, our board-certified providers can:
- Assess your medical history and heartburn symptoms
- Recommend dietary changes to prevent reflux
- Prescribe proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), or over-the-counter medications, when clinically appropriate
- Refer to a GI specialist if necessary
- Provide a personalized treatment plan

What Causes GERD & Acid Reflux?
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) weakens or relaxes, allowing stomach acid to flow back into the esophagus. Contributing factors may include:
- Eating large meals or lying down too soon after eating
- Consuming spicy, fatty, or acidic foods, as well as carbonated beverages
- Alcohol consumption and eating close to bedtime
- Excess weight, which can increase pressure on the stomach
- Hiatal hernia, which may worsen acid reflux symptoms
Note: GERD symptoms vary by individual. Consult a healthcare provider for personalized evaluation and treatment recommendations.
Our treatment plan focuses on reducing acid reflux, neutralizing stomach acid, and helping you prevent reflux through dietary changes and prescription medications if needed.
