Treatment with Circle Medical

Step 1

Evaluation with a Provider

  • You'll meet either virtually or in-person with a board-certified Circle Medical provider for a comprehensive medical evaluation to discuss your symptoms and health history
  • Your provider will ask about your symptoms (e.g., burning, urgency, frequency) and any past experiences with UTIs or treatments
  • If needed, urine testing will be ordered at a nearby lab to confirm the diagnosis and rule out complications
  • For appropriate cases, treatment can be provided and sent to your preferred pharmacy
  • For complicated cases, you may be asked to be seen and evaluated in person
Step 2

Follow-Up and Treatment Plan

  • Results from lab tests (if ordered) will be reviewed promptly
  • Your provider will explain your diagnosis and discuss next steps, including any prescriptions if appropriate
  • If your UTI does not improve or symptoms worsen, your provider may recommend an in-person evaluation to rule out complications like kidney infections
Step 3

Ongoing Care and Prevention

  • Circle Medical providers can discuss strategies to reduce the risk of future UTIs by identifying lifestyle factors that may contribute to recurrent infections
  • For patients experiencing recurrent UTIs, your provider will develop a personalized prevention plan, which may include ongoing monitoring, additional testing, or specialist referrals when appropriate
  • As part of Circle Medical's integrated primary care model, we'll help manage your overall urinary and general health over time

Frequently Asked Questions

Urinary Tract Infections

What are the common symptoms of a UTI?

UTIs often cause symptoms such as:
  • A burning or painful sensation during urination
  • Frequent or urgent need to urinate
  • Cloudy, foul-smelling, or bloody urine
  • Mild pelvic discomfort
If you're experiencing these symptoms, our providers can evaluate you virtually and order lab tests if needed to confirm the diagnosis.

NOTE: If you have severe symptoms like abdominal pain, fevers, chills, dizziness, vomiting, severe back pain, syncope, or other severe symptoms, please seek emergency care immediately or dial 911.

Can Circle Medical treat UTIs virtually?

Many uncomplicated UTIs can be evaluated and treated through a virtual appointment. During the visit, a provider will discuss your symptoms and medical history. If needed, they'll order a urine test at a nearby lab to confirm the infection. If appropriate, treatment can be prescribed to help you feel better quickly. However, some UTIs, like recurrent infections or those with severe symptoms, may require in-person care. Our providers will guide you to the right level of care.

How quickly could I feel better after starting treatment for a UTI?

Most people may begin to feel relief within 1-2 days of starting treatment. It's important to complete the full course of medication, even if your symptoms improve, to ensure the infection is fully cleared and prevent it from returning. If symptoms persist or worsen, follow up with your provider for further evaluation.

What happens if a UTI goes untreated?

Some mild UTIs can be treated with symptomatic support, such as increasing your hydration to flush out the bacteria, using over-the-counter pain relief for burning and discomfort, resting and managing stress to support your immune function.

However, prescription treatment for UTIs are usually needed, because delaying care can allow the infection to spread to your kidneys, which can lead to more serious complications like fever, pain, and even hospitalization. Recurrent or untreated infections can also cause long-term urinary health concerns. Seeking timely care is important to help avoid these risks. If you're experiencing severe symptoms such as fever, chills, vomiting, or back pain, please seek immediate emergency care.

Will I need lab work to confirm a UTI?

In many cases, urine testing may be necessary to confirm the diagnosis and determine the most effective treatment. Circle Medical providers can order lab work at a nearby testing facility and review the results with you to ensure you get the right care.
If symptoms are severe, your provider may prescribe treatment before urine testing results are back. If needed, treatment can be adjusted when urine testing results.

General

Do new patients need to prepare anything for their first appointment at Circle Medical?

For a detailed breakdown of what you need for your first appointment with Circle Medical, read the article below:

How to Prepare for Your First Appointment

Why would I choose a virtual telemedicine appointment over going to my doctor's office?

Virtual appointments allow our patients to see their providers in the comfort of their own homes. Our providers are also able to offer more flexible hours beyond what in-person doctor's offices provide.

What if I need in-person testing or examinations?

If any in-person care is needed, such as bloodwork, vaccinations, or other testing, our providers are able to send the appropriate request to one of our 4,000+ partner lab locations that is convenient for you. Results will be integrated with our HIPAA-compliant mobile app so that patients have access to all of their medical records in one secure place.

How much does this cost me?

For those with insurance, cost will depend on the specific type of care you receive and the coverage of your insurance plan. We provide a cost estimate based on each patient's insurance plan when they book an appointment.

For those without insurance, we provide the self-pay costs of each appointment when a patient is booking their appointment.

What states do you operate in?

Circle Medical is currently offering care in 26 states and the District of Columbia. To see our full list of currently available states, begin booking an appointment.

You must be currently residing in the state of treatment as well as have your primary pharmacy be in that same state in order to be a patient at our practice.

How long are appointments?

Standard video appointments are 30 minutes, other appointment type lengths may vary.

Billing

How do I know how much my specific appointment will cost?

We provide a cost estimate when you are booking your appointment. For those with insurance, your actual cost is determined after we submit the insurance claim for your appointment. Once we submit the claim, insurance companies will pay for a portion of the appointment and pass on any remaining cost to you. Once we know what this cost is, we will update you with an invoice within the app.

When do I get charged for my appointment?

For those with insurance, it typically takes 1-3 weeks for the insurance claim to be processed. Once processed, we'll send you an invoice within the app with any remaining costs. You can then opt to pay through the app, or we will automatically charge the payment card on file after 48 hours of sending you the invoice.

For those without insurance (or with out of network insurance), we will send you the invoice 1-2 days after your appointment is completed. You can then opt to pay through the app, or we will automatically charge the payment card on file after 48 hours of sending you the invoice.

Insurance

What insurance do you accept?

We accept over 1,500+ insurance plans. We cover most of the major PPO insurance companies (payors) across the United States. The best way to confirm coverage of your insurance plan is to begin booking an appointment on our website or via our mobile app. During the booking process, you'll be prompted to enter your insurance information for a real-time verification of your insurance plan.

What if I am having issues verifying my insurance plan coverage?

The best way to confirm your insurance plan coverage is to call the Member Services phone number on the back of your insurance card. Once you are able to confirm your coverage and your primary care copay costs, you can use the in-app chat to message our team with the information. We'll then follow up with confirmation.

What is the total cost of diagnosis and treatment?

Your per-appointment costs are set by your insurance plan. If the costs seem high, you may be on a high deductible health plan (HDHP). This means that you have an annual out-of-pocket amount that you must pay on healthcare in a given year before your insurance plan will cover more of your per-appointment costs.

If you are on an HDHP and have confirmed your insurance information in our mobile app, your remaining deductible for the year will be displayed on the “Book Appointment” page. Note that this amount may be outdated if you have had recent insurance claims processed.
