Strep. Tonsillitis. Sore Throat. Oh My.
Strep Throat is a painful and potentially serious condition caused by a
specific type of bacteria. It is generally spread by sharing food, drinks,
or by contact with saliva from an infected individual.
Circle Medical providers can evaluate strep throat symptoms over video and assist
in treating sore throats caused by strep or other causes. Viruses cause most
throat infections. A throat infection caused by a virus or a bacteria generally
will self-resolve in 7 days and does not need any antibiotics. However, a rare
but severe complication can arise from having contracted Strep throat.
Meet with a doctor to determine your risks and review if symptomatic support
is appropriate or if an antibiotic is needed.
Common symptoms that may indicate Strep Throat:
Painful swelling of the throat or tonsils
White or yellow patches on the tonsils
Headaches
Fever
